Molten Metal From Steamtech/Furnace Tree Not reducing damage

I have encountered an odd issue in how Molten Metal is supposed to work. When taking damage it does not reduce the elemental damage received. IE Currently it states itself to reduce the damage by a flat 24. yet if i take 100 fire damage, the game log still reports 100 damage. Furthermore it still gains stacks without actually blocking this damage (or at least reporting the damage as blocked).
