Defense checks

Hi i am playing 1.4.9 Brawler

I have focused on maxing def getting it to 68 (after rescaling) with all the bufs. I understand that chance to hit is 50% + (attack - defense)*2.5% with min 5% and max 95% chance to hit.

Yet out of 40 attacks of orc warrior with attack 37 against my 68 def brawler 23 were hits. This does not seem right or I am getting some wrong info? (This was not the only case just example)

so, this is hard to answer without a log.

look in your log and find examples which don't make sense to you and study the log. This will probably help a lot. You are looking for lines beginning with:

=> chance to hit

if you want to watch the log live as it were, start game with parameters, --flush-stdout and then use baretail.exe to watch the end of the text file (te4.log).

You can set strings to highlight, which I do when I am studying the log.

There is no better way to learn the mechanics of the game than doing this imho.

anyways, if you post some examples here, we might be able to help more with advice...
