Main menu loses keypresess on OS X

While playing the game, keypresses work fine.
However, while trying to log in on the main menu, typing the username and password is weird — about 10% or 20% of my keypresses are ignored. I have to type slowly and watch every character appearing, so that I might repeat the lost ones.

Edit: I'm running OS X El Capitan 10.11.6, T-Engine 1.4.8 (latest at moment), and the percentage is closer to 50%, I guess. I'm willing to run debug builds, get logs and whatnot, if this would help solve the issue.
