[1.4.6 Emb] Unable to start new Embers game

Often when a character dies, I am unable to start a new Embers game. The option disappears from the new character creation dialog window.

I have to close the program down, restart, log out, log in, and then *sometimes* I can start.

I have no idea what causes this.
