[1.4.6] Gunslinger Regular Campaign Ending

So I just finished a run with a halfling gunslinger on the regular campaign. Upon killing the two final bosses I got the winning message immediately followed by the final death notification. I should note that I had at least three lives left. The only option I had was to exit to the main menu / restart, etc. just like you get on losing your final life. Kind of a bummer because I wanted to finish a couple of other quests with this character.

Maybe I was just being stupid. It has been so long since I won the original campaign I can't remember the possible endings.

Well, there's an ending in which you die.

Yep, for sure.

I just don't remember both events (winning and game over) triggering at literally the same time. It isn't a huge deal, it just seemed odd to me.
