Map view scrolling problem.

It has been mentioned already in some other post in the General section but I didn't see a post for that. Currently the game loves to hide a big portion of the game map for some layouts behind the interface and we can't even scroll the view away from it. Worse case scenario is the demon starting area or the maze type dungeon like in Trapped.

This is REALLY annoying. Can we get the game to scroll a little further on all map types please? Notice that even with a single tile shortcut bad it'd still be hiding the full bottom row of the map?

so THAT'S how poeple manage to hide multiple rows!
pretty sure the default size is 10-15 tiles across the across the screen. in that settings, the default hotbar size takes maybe one row.
you know you can also resize the hot bar to whatever size you want, and you can make the icons smaller too in the options.

And your hot bar is 2 rows high...
you caused the problem yourself.

My hotbar icons are at 48 and I don't remember even changing that. Nontheless, the minimum size I can make is 32 and as you can see from the screenshot, this map only leaves me half a tile to place the bar. Which means I'd have to make the icons 16 big which is TINY and unsupported. Let's not even talk about people that'd play with 16x16 tiles (I'm at 32x32)

As for why I make the toolbar two high, it's because I kinda need all those talents for some classes that are very expansive :o And I made it slightly smaller because there's not enough icons in a single row anyway and so that the same keys line up with the ones above. Aka my toolbar is 24 tiles wide :p


And what if it's the minimap that is hiding the level?

your screen still fits a 32-35 long column.
if it's not you changing the settings then it has to be an addon that does it.
either way's not a bug. you did something to the UI.
also, if you know how to shaoe the interface, you surely also know how to move it.

edit
blurgh, go tot he options, ui tab.
change hud style from (default) minimalist, to classic.
that should fix your problem.

I must obviously be doing something wrong if nobody else is bothered by that so I'd like to know what setting did I mess up to reach that point.

Also, I'm playing without any addon because I'm testing the 1.4 beta and I don't want incompatible addons messing up.

1.4 beta? well then, why didn't you said so before?
could have guessed but next time, you should write things like
mods used,
game version.
windows or else
steam or not
all of them make a difference.

now, i do not know what exactly you did to messup the scale so badly, may be new default for the 1.4
still, changing hud style to classic should fix it.

Well I won't let you off the hook for the original issue that easily :p

First, I apologize for the harsh way I made this topic, it was on me and I was mistaken that rather new issue to the old one that only affected a couple maps. But it IS a legitimate complaint. Comparing with 1.3.3 with Minimalist/Simple UI, I can see that the game does allow scrolling past the map borders in a way that fits my toolbar and the minimap, perfectly and the top left widget sufficiently. As a rough guess it feels like it allows 4 or 5 tiles extra scrolling.

BUT, what isn't fine is two points. First, the 1.4 beta (in the Dark UI maybe? Buy I tried the Simple one and it has the same problem) you can see my original screens as using the new UI so it had to be the beta :p) doesn't seem to have that tolerant scrolling making the experience rather dreadful. Second, the 1.3 game does have that exact same issue I reported, only it happens only in a few select maps where somehow, the extra scrolling space isn't applied. Unknown Tunnels (1) for example. The Elven Ruins (1) has the same problem too.

All those later screens were taken on 1.3.3 Steam with no unofficial mods (aka with vault, stonewarden and ashes)

Also I checked, the behavior of the first screen I posted is a 1.4b2 regression compared to 1.4b1 it seems.

What is your resolution?

Your HUD is much bigger than the tiles compared to most screenshots I've seen.

1680x1050, tiles in 32x32 to have a good view of the game without scrolling. Talent icons at 48 size which I don't remember changing but not sure.
