Fearscape forever - gloves of dispersion

#1 Post by cttw »

Had a really good run, with only a bullshit autoexplore death (deadly strikes + attack) until I was lvl 47. I was painfully aware that there hadn't been a single gloves of dispersion drop, either from mobs or in the shops. At lvl 47. Im in the sewers and naturally there is a Fearscaping boss. It doesn't have to pay the upkeep for anything, so it is always at full vim and the fearscape just lasts and lasts forever.

Game is unfinishable because no gloves of dispersion dropped, and no single random drop item should be so fundamental for a simple successful run at the easiest difficulty. Fearscape needs to end at some point, since for some reason the mobs dont have to pay the upkeep.

aaand you can't kill the mob?
i agree that they should have to pay as well, but its not the gloves fault.

also, is was that a fixed boss, or a random boss?

if its random, then i say "blame RNG, that's all" i mean, its a rogue like, BS happens sometimes.

It was a orb boss in the sewers. I couldn't kill it with the fire regen, but fearscape shouldn't last forever. The costs that balance it for the player are not working for the mobs.

and that's the only part that "need" changing.

gloves are not the villain there.

Are you sure mobs don't have the vim drain from Fearscape? Many classes have skills to regain vim, so they may just be offsetting the cost that way.

Every time I looked at it it was at full vim. I was a dwarf-lich necromancer. Not a whole lot of healing, but I managed to drag it on for quite a while. I could dent it but it would just heal.

you were a litch necromancer, and you couldn't impending doom his ass to prevent healing?
also, pretty sure necromancers have conveyance cat, so you should be able to displacement shield it.
...
did he had vimsense? -,- because if he did, that's most likely why his vim wasn't going down.

Fearscape (I think so) is direct healing. Even though impending doom reduces healing factor by 100%,, the enemy could have a magical cleanse. Also, if I'm reading the description right, it could also mean the enemy could still heal if they have over 100% healing mod.

The cost per turn was changed 4 months ago to increase over time.

Forge Giants however do have cheating resource regen which should really be fixed.

It had enough HP to ride out displacement shield and Impeding Doom easily. Impending doom is a bit silly tbh when you apply it at lvl 47 and it lasts 2 turns on a boss.

After a while the fight was not going well for me. I hid behind fearscape walls and was only taking the fire damage. I waited a while and for some reason the boss wasn't coming after me. Waited a bit longer and then peeked out and inspected creature on the boss. It had full vim.

Relatiely new player, loving the game. I would like to note that this is still an issue, as I eventually had to take off my armor and hold 5 for some time so I could die and go regear against this same boss, as neither of us could kill the other with my usual defensive setup.

It didn't help that I'm a Wyrmic this run, I'd make some good headway (down to 30-40% or so) but once my Equilibrium was in the four figures the failure rate prevented me from finishing him off, and his hp regen was about as good as my eq. regen without resting as an option

As with OP, his vim never moved from the 800 or so he started at.

Technically, you don't have to kill the orb bosses.

I went through and removed all the 100 points per turn resource regenerations on enemies. You should have a chance now.
