[1.2.5] unplayable under win 8.1 pro

i have the same pc i've always had, but just upgraded os to win 8.1 pro, and 1.2.5 runs so slowly i can't get much further than the opening dungeon, after waiting for ages.

i have turned off other programs, but it justs crawls along like a glacier.

any ideas as to the problem?

Try enabling compatibility options for ToME, such as high-DPI scaling disable.

Hmm...on 8.1 myself and don't have this issue, so I suspect something else is the problem.
