ToME fails to launch

So, I grabbed ashes, which is great, and played that for a few days. Got around to updating my OS, which I've been putting off forever. (Xubuntu 64) After I ran my updates, I click on ToME and nothing happens. Neither 1.2.4 or 1.2.3 launch at all now. They'll pop up in my task manager for about half a second, but that's about it. Anybody have any ideas?

Since this is occurring with an Ubuntu variant, I suggest you check out this other current thread, where a few other Ubuntu users comment on very similar problems, I offer a few suggestions for how to diagnose the problem, and we try to work out what's going on. The first of these suggestions is that you should be running tome from a terminal, not a graphical interface, so that you can see any error messages it prints when it is trying to start up.
