Balance problem... !

I know balancing with so many things random must be hard, but this time it was rather extreme, entering "the heart of the gloom" 1st level, with a new archer level 5.
When entering I get an escort for an alchemist. Then I look around :
- 3 uniques around me, not stuck to me but not far, all visible, 2 being level 7, the last one level 5 like me.
- + 6 other creatures, 2 of them being level 6, including a bear at range 2 from me.

Time to die, I'd say. At this point I can always exit the heart of the gloom, loosing the alchemist.
I tried to play a few turns to have a look, at the 1st turn the alchemist died from a distant attack from one of the uniques !
Then I discovered you can't exit the level when you are brain locked or stunned, so I joined him a few turns later, it was just too much !

And it was a good level 5 archer, very promising... !

escorts are not meant to be saved reliably. if you see a dangerous floor, just leave it and come back later. and I think someone lies here - there are no escorts in heart of gloom.

I don't see why I would lie, there was indeed an escort, too bad I didn't think about making a screeshot at the time ! (or keep the savegame without doing anything !).

Well normally I would have exited the level at normal play, but when you get the escort request there is a big dialog in the middle of the screen hiding most of it, so you must decide without knowing what to expect. After that yes, it's just a failed quest, so it's better than dying, but it's still a serious balance issue, heart of the gloom is the 2nd dungeon for thalorens, it's supposed to be something easy before starting the real stuff, too bad...

and I think someone lies here - there are no escorts in heart of gloom.

There are escorts in Heart of the Gloom if it's one of the first two T1 dungeons you enter (not including racial starts.)

i never make gloom as one of the first dungeons because withering thing on nightmare just rapes. appologies then.

Exactly this, I often go to the Heart of Gloom even after the Dark Forest, which is tier 2 location.
