Display Scaling Bug/ Chat Bug

#1 Post by lasserith »

Ok so two issues. The first is that using windows display scaling destroys tome. If you go to control panel > display > make objects appear larger (wording might be different depending on OS) and adjust the scale to 120 you will see a number of bugs. Relog into your user account to make the change then attempt to set tome to your monitors native resolution. The majority of the UI elements will be off screen and resetting there position will not fix it.

Another bug involves the chat. For some reason the chat functions fine for a few seconds upon starting the game and loading a character. Then it will break and stop updating. I can leave/rejoin channels and that will make the relevant leave/join messages appear. Similarly I can type and send messages but I can't see any inbound. (I verified using the webchat in the steam overlay). I use 0 for the time out on chat messages and filtering is all off. Ideas?

I run into the UI issue all the time.

To get it to look like it should, right-click on t-engine.exe, click on Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, check the Disable Display Scaling on High DPI Settings box. This only works on 32-bit programs, BTW.

If you want larger fonts in-game, try my UI Mod (link in my signature).

There are a couple of other threads on the Chat issue. I forget what the resolution was, but try looking back a week or two.

So the disable scaling fixes the UI issues but the chat is still borked. I saw a thread but it involved people who weren't in the chat rooms. (they somehow got them unchecked?) I can check and uncheck lobbies all day and it doesn't fix it. The chat only works for a certain amount of time after starting the game then it gets borked.
