So I was playing as a Reaver and was rolling through the game pretty easily till I got to the farportal room then i met a almost unstoppable horror.
It was the bloated horror and he had classes of Arcane Blade and Oozemancer making him all but unkillable as his damage output was insane. I have no problem dieing to crazy combos but shouldn't Antimagic force all of his arcane blade skills to not work?
I looked at his character sheet and he didn't have Zigur follower so i guess he was not barred from it. Was wondering if this is a bug or just bad luck.
Thanks

Re: Ridiculous Horror
I thought Bloated Horrors were fundamentally antimagic, actually.
I'm not sure about any policy or system where I blocks things like that, though...
Sorry about your Reaver.

Thanks lol
i got close to him thinking "he is an Oozemance he can't use spells..." then all of a sudden i died had to go back and read the log to realize what happened.

Re: Ridiculous Horror
Oozing Horrors get lots of Antimagic toys without actually being Antimagic. Was it an Oozing Horror?Darkgobbo wrote:So I was playing as a Reaver and was rolling through the game pretty easily till I got to the farportal room then i met a almost unstoppable horror.

Bloated Horrors are more like psi / magic hybrids. They don't move or grab you, though, so you can pretty easily stay out of melee with them.
Oozing Horrors will totally grab you and force you into melee, which is extra sucky if it's using the Arcane Blade spell-on-melee talent.
Re: Ridiculous Horror
He was a Bloated Horror the ones with mind sear and cannot move. If he had not been an Oozemancer i could have stayed back but he could out damage me at range or in melee and he could out heal the damage i could put out staying out of melee range. He eventually outpaced me on damage and managed to kill me for the rest of my lives cause you can't choose to start outside when in the fortress.

Yes, having antimagic talents does not actually make you antimagic. I learned this the hard way myself: "Ha! An Oozing Horror Archmage? What a jo--!"

I guess you could have used a Movement Infusion to run away, since it's immobile and the Fortress is a No Teleport zone, but unless you have area-nukes you can't kill it from around the corner either.
