Only able to launch in safe mode...

#1 Post by Saint »

Hi, I can only really play the game in safe mode (which is getting really annoying). When I launch the launcher, if I don't choose safe mode, when I start up the game, it either won't load all the way and just crash, it it loads and it just looks all black with a few white and red lines... hope I posted this in the right place, help appreciated (it's always been like that, even after I updated)

Same for me when I play at work on an old computer. I blame the computer for it.
It's an old Windows 98 machine with integrated video card, so that's more than enough of a reason not to work.

The actual thing happening to me there iirc was the loading screen bar wouldn't move at all.

I remember reading on various boards (and here too) people having the same exact problem.

For several of them apparently it's ToME4 that launch with a non standard resolution windowed mode instead of a standard one that was responsible of the initial loading freeze.

The solution was apparently to go to the file resolution.cfg located in :
(for XP )
C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\T-Engine\4.0\settings\
(for Vista/7)
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\T-Engine\4.0\settings\
(i don't know for 98 sorry)

And edit whatever non standard resolution is listed there into
800x600

And then ToME4 should be able to load, you can then edit the window size manually to fit your need.
As said, for most of them it has worked, but for some it didn't unfortunately.
