[1.05] Freezes on startup

Since I upgraded to 1.05 the game regulary (not always) freeze either trying to load the start menu or upon attempting to start a new game. Basically the screen goes black save the mousepointer, which consecutively freezes a few seconds later forcing me to hard reboot the computer (similar to overheating). Tried wiping the install folder and downloading again to no avail (ToME + T-Engine folders placed directly in the C: directory). The few times I've actually gotten the game to start I haven't noticed any performance problems.

System specs (Laptop)
Windows 7 (64bit)
AMD Phenom II N660 Dual Core
4 gigs RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6470M (with the latest drivers)

Haven't seen this particular problem reported elsewhere - any idea what gives?

No one? I've had it freeze when trying to exit a game to the main menu as well, so figure its either the menu itself or the background that causes the hangup. This quite literally prevents me from playing the game since it hangs well over half the time.

Had this once myself right after upgrading my add-ons. Problem turned out to be Turtles add-on on which I had forgotten to delete the old one so I had a duplicate. Removing the old one fixed it.

I have a similar problem - only instead of black my startup screen is all white. This problem only happened after I upgraded to 1.05... previous versions worked flawlessly.

Now as soon as I hit the play button from the launcher it opens into a white windowed screen and nothing else happens.

I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro (64bit), i7-2670 Quad Core, 8 gigs of RAM, embedded intel HD graphics 3000 with an additional Radeon HD 6490M GPU.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I deleted
