Chat Gone

I'm logged into my online profile, I'm recording and validating my current character, and I've even got the 'send item to chat' option on an item dropdown... but chat just isn't there. Nothing appears on the game screen, and on the message log I only have Game Log as a button at the top, with the others flat-out missing.

Was there an option that I need to turn on or double check since moving to 1.0.5?
