[1.0.1] Alchemist Golem attacking itself

#1 Post by Planetus »

While in the Old Forest, my alchemist's golem started walking back and forth between 3 tiles in a 'hallway'. There were no enemies in sight, yet it seemed to be taking damage from a non-named giant venus fly trap that wasn't there. I used channel staff to attack the entire hallway and cleared everything in LoS, but there were no enemies anywhere near. Even stranger, it then started attacking itself. It kept this up, refusing to move out of that area, until it died. Once I revived it in another location, it didn't go back there until I lead it there. Once I had lead it there again, it passed through the area without difficulty.

Upon further review, it seems the 'attack' the golem was doing on itself was actually the when-hit effect of it's shield.

Upon further further experience, I think the source was a dead venus fly trap that somehow was still attacking. I came across this recently in a new Anorthil character, where I killed a fly trap and then walked near where it died. I still attacked me whenever I was within radius 1 of where it died, including standing right on top of it. So far, though, I've only seen it with giant venus fly traps.

I had a similar issue in 1.0.0 with a blade horror attacking me after death, for hundreds of turns whenever I was within a few dozen tiles of where it died. (Basically, anything it could spellcast from when it was alive.)
