Permanent Invincibility bug.

#1 Post by R_D »

So I'm playing exploration mode, and I beat the first boss (I'm playing a halfling archer), and decide to go to the 2nd boss in the next area. Long story short, I end up getting pushed back to the entrance by the boss and start dying repeatedly. After about 3 deaths, I die one more time, but this time I get the achievement "fool of a took!" for committing suicide? But I never damaged myself. So I talk to the eidolon, and I notice I have no option this time to ask it to take me back somewhere safe, so I ask it to take be back to where I was (like I had been doing). I'm teleported directly to space again next to the eidolon. I talk to it and all the 4 options are there this time, but I ask it to take me back to where I was again. I'm sent back next to the boss again, and I kill it without taking any damage. At first I thought I was just lucky and dodged every hit, but upon examination of the message log, I was getting hit for 0 damage.

Since then, I've run dungeon after dungeon, I'm level 20, and I'm STILL invincible. Everything deals 0 damage to me. The only time I take damage is from using "Scatter Shot" and hitting myself with it. My hp goes down when I do that, and then eventually heals back up to full as normal, but regardless I still continue taking no damage from enemies whatsoever. As much fun as being invincible is, I've reached the point where I'm past everything I was able to do on adventure mode, and especially since I'm on exploration mode now, I'd like to be vulnerable again! I've quit the game entirely, I've restarted my computer, and still I remain invincible. Please help!

Oh, here's the link to my character profile. http://te4.org/characters/30614/tome/c3 ... 1221b4a647

I've just experienced this bug myself. I tried removing invulnerability via the LUA console but that has not help. Anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: I've figured out a way to fix it. Using the console command "game.player.invulnerable_others=0" seems to have done the trick.

This worked! Tysm, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you posting this.

EDIT: I have gathered 2 SS of what happens when this bug occurs, as the game log retells. I'm not sure if it will be helpful at all, but here they are.

Do you still have the protection of the eidolon buff? That would cause this, and I believe that this bug is related to death on the eidolon plane.

I don't see it when I come back, but it might be related. What I do know is that I've only had it happen to me as an Archer (though I've barely played any other classes yet), and it's happened to me TWICE. Both times I was able to fix it thanks to what the previous user suggested to do. My best guess for what's happening is that I'm firing an arrow as I die, and when it registers my death, my arrow which I had fired and hasn't traveled anywhere yet hits me, then I get killed a second time, this time counted as a suicide, causing the glitch. (see my screenshots--it says I die to the lich, then I commit suicide, yet I never attacked myself and it all happened in one turn)

Edit: apparently this glitch can also occur from getting "killed twice" by an enemy--suicide need not be involved (by glitch or otherwise).

The same situation happened to me while playing Dwarf Corruptor. I got killed by one of snow giant uniques in Daikara, then immediately died from blight damage while on Eidolon Plane. Asking Eidolon to return me to the place of death teleported me back to Eidolon plane instead.
After that, yeah, all damage to character except self-damage was 0 as if under Eidolon Protection. I'll try the console command mentioned.

I experienced something similar. I was getting my ass kicked right near the entrance to Norgos lair. I was on the exit tile with an enemy right next to me. I successfully left, but I got the picked up items screen. I equipped one of the items, which I assume took a turn. Enemy attacks and kills me. Eidolon plane. When I left it, I was on the overworld map, but the invincibility buff was still there.

A fast fix to this (albiet, not at all a total fix) would be to just have Eidolon Protection be a 10(100 if you want to be generous) turn timed effect, instead of permanent.

Seems like good futureproofing-there's multiple bugs being described here, it sounds like, and that means there may be some that haven't caught yet.

Are any of these examples using the addon attempting to fix this bug? I'd appreciate bug reports, if so.

I have this strange bug also on my halfling archer. I can vaguely remember that this happened after I did accidentally managed to kill myself. :p It appears that this bug needs a specific constellation of requirements to happens. This makes it very difficult to track down this bug.

Now two further characters got immune due this strange bug. Interesting is that before the bug happens the Eidolon gives only 3 options while normally there are 4 options. The zoning out of the current zone where the character died is not available. After selecting the option to return you will imediately land in the Eidolon zone again. This means that the bug must be happening directly before being ported to the Eidolon zone.

Just to chime in, this also happened to me while playing an Elven Reaver. When it occurred, I was in Exploration mode and had just been killed. When I asked to go back to where I'd been, he agreed to send me back and the game proceeded as usual. However, I was transported right back to the Eidolon Plane. I again asked to be sent back and was succesful. That's when I noticed I was getting hit for 0 damage every time. I WAS able to kill my character (through breathing death) and go back to the EP. It remained broken however.

I am not sure it is the same bug, but at least possibility of dying twice (with highly similar effects) is still not fixed. Noticed in infinite dungeon. My yeek paradox mage casted Turn Back The Clock at nearby drake hatchling and got send to the Eidolon Plane two times in row (e.g. returning from one plane sent me right to another). After returning to dungeon I lost two lives instead of one :( Didn't know about the bug back then, so I quickly quit that character without verifying if permanent protection was on (no graphical indication was present).
