When the apprentice asks for an artifact and the menu opens, if the player presses escape to exit the menu without selecting any artifact, the dialogue will progress as if the player gave him something ('ah, this is exactly what I need', 'I can't use it anyway'). No artifact is given in this case, so it's just a text error.
