I'll just be going along and then: bam! desktop. Usually there's not even an error message. It does it while exploring dungeons, but otherwise I'm not sure what causes it. Usually it will let me reload a character without problems, so as long as I save every once in a while it's not that big a deal. But, I seem to have completely lost a level 18 Cornac necromancer - it crashes as soon as I load the game.
Running the os x version. Are there logs somewhere that would help determine what is causing this?

Re: [b42] Random Crashes
This is happening more and more. It's spread to all characters, even newly created ones, and has more or less made the game unplayable. I've tried turning various options off, I've tried a clean install (deleted the data folder, but still synched with the online profile).
Is there anything anyone can suggest, or should I just quit playing the game?

Got it.
If you open the tome package and run the unix executable directly, the terminal window gives you a running game log.
[LOG] Neck Romancer IV hits forest troll for #GREY#57 darkness#LAST# damage.

It appears there was a problem with particle effects. I turned that off (thought I had already done that...) and this seems to have solved the problem. Now I can't see a lot of spell effects, but at least I can play the game.
