my old tool hadn't +max mana.This error to have nothing to do with it.

Item swaps check pre-use functions to disable things like shield wall, berserker, etc.

When you swap items your mana must be above the minimum to start the sustain so it disables it. It's currently intended behavior on most talents, though I'm not sure if it's desired behavior on this one.
