(b29-32) Profile issue

#1 Post by Nori »

I installed b29 and I am now getting the following error upon starting a new game:
Online profile disabled (switching to offline profile) due to no online profile active.

On the main menu it says you are logged or not ?

Says logged in, but then when I start a character it gives that error. Going back to the main menu then shows I'm logged out and it doesn't let me log in again. I'm gonna try b30 and see if that fixes the issue.

Still happens in b30. I tried deleting my profile and doing a clean install and that didn't help at all. Just shows the same message everytime.

Still happens with me too, but I'm not sure if it's how utterly fantastic my connection to the game server is, or that the unlocks on my profile page don't match what I've unlocked (everything except Pyro and Cryo, and Pyro's ridiculously close to getting unlocked).

Side note, the authentication process or whatever at new character creation tends to go on forever, but only when I've logged my profile on... I've been getting nervous and killing the terminal after 4 mins, restarting and logging out, no problems there. (Aside from immediately being greeted by Online profile disabled (switching to offline profile) due to no online profile active., despite not being logged on in the first place)
Having satellite internet is a lot like relying on the processes described in those RFC's for your internet. Except, instead of needing to worry about statues interrupting your connection, this time you worry about the weather. I have satellite internet. Fun, no?

It's long with the changes we did while we were debugging it ?
i'ts normal the change increased the timeout.
But your problem is more like the connection is utterly unstable and dies soon

When you had me increase the timeout in the file, the loading screen took longer yeah, but eventually worked and got me to the creation screen after a minute or two. Now it's not working after 4 minutes of waiting. Don't know why. Side note, when not logged in and creating a character, the game will act as though it was minimised until the creation screen is ready, but when logged in the screen will "black out" (when playing in fullscreen). Not sure what this is indicating, if anything.

I'm still having this issue in the newest beta. I tried adding ToME as a firewall exception, forwarding te4.org to my computer and it still won't work. Just says online profile not available (despite having logged in successfully on the main menu). Did have any issues prior to b29.… Not sure if anyone has any ideas or what else I could try to troubleshoot the issue.

I'm have the same issue (or a similar one) in b30/31:

http://forums.te4.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=27203

I created a new profile and it works, but the old one doesn't at all - characters aren't registered, unlocks aren't registered, and the old unlocks aren't acknowledged in-game (I'm listed as logged in on the main menu, but it's like the game logs me out of the profile the second I hit "new game" or "load game" - I'm logged back out if I go back to the main menu after that). I think it's because I left it untouched for several months and there have been a bunch of profile system changes since then.

I really don't want to have to start over unlocking everything. :(

Hmm, that is interesting. I wanted to try something like that to see if it would work... My profile isn't that old however and I've kept up with the updates. Personally I don't want to create a new profile, I like my profile name and I really don't want to work through all the unlocks again... :|

Have you changed your profile password? I think the game has trouble with this and you may try changing it back if that's the case.

Just a short comment here: unless something has changed, it is very possible, and very easy, to transfer your unlocks to another profile. Should be as easy as moving the allow_build file over.

Unfortunately, in the other topic, someone told me to delete the folder... and I did. So now I have no local files to transfer over. So unless someone wants to share theirs...
