[b18] Strange sparkles

#1 Post by budswell »

Hi cleared out this big room (vault I think - had the warning when I openned the doors), and there is still this sparkly (like a left over spell effect) swirling in a sqare.

I never saw anythig actually in this square, I openned the door and then waited for them all to come out. When I came in there was just this sparkly swirl and a neaby rogue.

Is this a bug, or is it some left over spell which will eventually expire. I've run around looking for invisible people but found nothing. Mouse-over just says its floor, and when I run, it doesn't stop for it.

Edit: Left the dungeon (was first level of Dreadfell) to sell my inventory and came back. Sparkles are still there.

Edit: OK, has happenned a few times now. So probably a known thing, and this is just the first time I've made it far enough to have opponents with spell effects.

They are particle effects from a spell that an NPC used. I have also seen this, and am not positive how they become disconnected from the NPC. If you see this happen on the screen can you immediately check the stdout for errors?
<DarkGod> lets say it's intended

blindness causes it all the time, along with all kinds of other graphical anomolies when blindness wears off.

edit -

just remembered, I see this when I am running, get hit by a cold trap, and get frozen. my particles keep moving to where the run WOULD have stopped, but I stay in place. moving again when freeze wears off fixes it.

Turning invisible can cause the same to happen to particle effects around the PC.
