Profile disabled due to bad game version
Created an online profile and playing with beta 17. Online login to profile was successful, however, the profile got disabled when i created a new char due to bad game version? Any way to fix that?
Re: Profile disabled due to bad game version
Same problem here but in b18. As only bad issue I believe this avoid us of "upload" to website char updates.
Re: Profile disabled due to bad game version
A version is checked by performing a checksum of the ToME directory (I think), so even the slightest difference in the game/modules/tome directory (and probably game/engines/default directory as well) can lead to a game version being declared bad. coffee is right that this only affects statistics and characters being reported to the website, so feel free to continue playing. Alternatively you can completely delete the ToME directory (the saves should be in a separate directory, but check will people using the same OS as you to be sure), download the official release again and start playing. You will need to start a new character for it to be uploaded to the website, though. This problem occurs when people try to manually update ToME to a new version by copying directories back and forth instead of doing a clean installation of each successive beta. Maybe that is what happened?

Re: Profile disabled due to bad game version
Well, the funny part of this problem yufra is that I only started compiling TOME because I always played "offline" and the official version b18 was refusing reckon my old saved games and worst than that the saved achievements.
I really don't care much the online statistics (but I reckon can help darkgod balance the game), and matter of fact I have some online privacy concerns that I will later explain in another post. But that for now don't really matter.
So when migrating for b15 to b18 (and straight avoid stupid bugs like the War Hound bug) I exclaimed "OMG, I will lost my achievements and need to restart again" then I saw 3 possible solutions.
1 - Step by step (beta by beta) load, save and upgrade my save files/saved profile. (failed right away in b15>b16)
2 - Compile from last SVN version because following this thread about same problem in b18, darkgod got a solution and said to redownload again. However since he's not responsible for OSX version Mac version for download would not contain the fix. But this way the compiled SVN version still failed reckon my achievements.
3 - Create an online profile to migrate at least the achievments. This way It worked with both versions (official and last SVN version) but as you know the compiled SVN had the problem of not upload chars to website.
So, resuming: Old saves and saved profile are obsolete in b18 that also needs clean config, and only/best way to migrate achievments from saved files/offline is to create a online profile from an older version than b18.
Thanks for the SVN rxxx tip (from the other thread) I will start use that when compiling. Probably a good tip to add to OSX compile guide...

Re: Profile disabled due to bad game version
Aha! That explains my issue!
So unless this is fixed in some way I won't be able to play any more! My games machine is not connected to the Internet and I have no intention of connecting it at all!

Re: Profile disabled due to bad game version
I understanding now, the achievements were lost when updating to b18. Hmmm, DG may have changed how achievement were stored locally and most people didn't notice because they use online profiles that updated the local copy. Maybe start a new bug thread focusing on just that so it gets more attention?coffee wrote:Well, the funny part of this problem yufra is that I only started compiling TOME because I always played "offline" and the official version b18 was refusing reckon my old saved games and worst than that the saved achievements.
