[15b] Game loads, module won't start at all

Just downloaded the game, unzipped it into C:\Program Files; set t-engine.exe to Run as Administrator.

The game starts up fine, the background runs, the music plays. I select New Game and am presented with a list of modules, the ToME module and 2 testing modules. When I select the ToME module, I am asked for a name, I input one and the screen turns black and nothing further happens.

Running Windows 7 Home Premium x86 on a Dell M70 laptop.

Any suggestions? I've let the game run for over an hour and no change - just a black screen.

What if you try to run it normaly ? not as administrator ?

Can you paste the stdout.txt file please ?

That's odd-- I'm getting this problem too, using 15b (Win). The strange part is that I was playing, died, dropped back to the main menu to start a new character... and nothing. Other saves are also refusing to load.

Ed. Then I re-downloaded 15b (Win), wiped out the entire T-Engine folder [saving the saves] and, in a moment of inspiration, logged out of my online profile. The last one seemed to solve it...

I get this problem too... If I alt-tab or use other windows or do something while the game is starting it will break somewhere. I just wait doing nothing until the game is responding it will work well every time.
Try this approach, it might work for you.

Just a quick note, the laptop I was using died shortly thereafter as it decided that displaying to the monitor was a bad idea...

I'm on my old laptop now and the game runs just fine.
