Stair in Vault.

I went downstairs and found myself in a 3x3 gold vault full of undead and a sun paladin who I surely can not rescue.

Is stair in vault a bug?

Twice have come down the stairs into a pit full of beasties. So happened that both times turned out to be quests and there hadn't been anywhere to place the other @ ... clear the level, nip up and down the stairs, enjoy the easiest escort duty ever, because the second time they get placed - could even sit back with a cup of tea and whatever 5-key-pressing-contraption is in fashion :)
