order of actions?

#1 Post by Gwai »

This is either a question or a bug report depending on the answer: If I read a scroll, does it happen immediately, or is this more like the white wolf games with an order such that I might choose my action but not get to have it happen immediately?

I ask because I read a scroll of teleportation with a character in Carn Dum and was killed before the teleport happened as far as I can tell. At least the death screen popped up before my character visibly moved anywhere. Is that appropriate?

But did you actually move ?
It is possible that you did teleport, were killed at your new spot by a monster that could still act this turn.

Visually my character never seemed to move. In other words, when the death screen appeared, my character was still in the same room, which was centered in the same place.

I've experienced this as well but I was slowed at the time. I figured that slow simply changed the action resolution order.

I can't remember for sure to say I wasn't slowed. However, I saved the stdout at home, so I can go check. Would this be intended behavior if I was indeed slowed?
