achievements and another bug

#1 Post by Shoob »

are they gone/not gettable?

I killed someone with <1 hp left finally and did not unlock that one, then when I looked at my achievement file it was gone.

and I somehow got 2.5 stat points when I leveled up... hmmm.

2.5 ? You are playing on insane difficulty ?

Achievements did not get transfered to the new profile system.

As for not getting it it seems the game checks for life == 1 which is kinda silly as it could (and probably is) be a fractional number. I'll fix it

Then it's normal, in insane mode the player is considered to be of rank "normal" instead of "elite", which means less stats, less life, less resistance, less ... well .. chances to stay alive ;)
Please try a hobbit berserker on insane mode!

Oops, the confuse thing's been like that, I think. I've never noticed confused monsters acting abnormally, even in the earlier betas. Confused state doesn't seem to last as long as advertised usually, either, or at least it's seemed like that.

Yeah equilibrium does not regen use meditation or swallow as was planned :)
Is that too harsh ? I was under the impression the regen didnt help much given how slow it was

I think it is fine as it is...

(btw, my insane char is now lvl 15, done the OF and the maze, deciding on whether to do the elven ruins or sandworm lair next :))

[EDIT, just to give some more info]
wearing:
- slime covered longsword (17 slime)
- barkwood
- 2 rings of regen (+3)
- amulet of willpower (+8)
- steel plate of resist acid (19%)
- hammerhand
- dwarven-steel boots

active buffs:
- icy skin (lvl 5 @ 1.57 mastery)
- acidic skin (lvl 4 @ 1.54 mastery)

total armor: 53, total defense: 15

I have a ring of defense +20 in my pack too, going to use that for the greater mummy lord.

I just disliked that summons would fail when you had 0 equilibrium.

Blind works fine, monsters act confused (stumble around blindly), but I cannot say for confusion.

What would the gameplay difference be between blind and confusion (on monsters)?

Re: Equilibrium regen: It's pretty slow, but definitely noticeable given how much time you sit around healing and whatnot -- I'd generally say it's as least as beneficial as first or second level meditation, without the hassle of mindlessly walking into a wall for 200 turns. The regen's impact is lesser as you gain levels and start racking up equilibrium points faster, but it's very helpful early on and always a boon.

Certain areas (Shaws, Forest, Sandworms, ferex) could probably stand to increase equilibrium regen a bit, though; it'd be vaguely thematic, I think, for wilders to regain their balance when they're closer to nature. Consummate reduction in unnatural areas (Towns, Tol, Amon, etc.) wouldn't be without their place. Leaving equilibrium without natural regen in Insane and having that in might be interesting, though of course, it's just an idea

Nice loot, Shoob; what kind of damage are you taking? Does armor mitigate spell damage? Haven't had a chance to get a armor-spec'd character under spellfire yet. I've had a couple good (bug-derailed) runs in beta2 with fighters that royally kicked once the armor started rolling it; being able to actually take more than one or two hits is an incredible experience, heh.

yeah, spells do bypass armor, which is why my char will eventually be upgraded with the passive combat techniques category for extra spell resistance.

I can walk through anything (besides spell casters and worms and mithril stuff) without taking damage (keep in mind I am playing on insane so they get 20% more damage and I get 20% less) :) would eventually like to take my armor up to at least 65, but I cant do that for a while.

(ok, got ringil now too :D, he did knock off about 200 hp off of me though, devouring flame saved me)
