I tried out Shoob's mummy.lua solution and it fixed the first level of the elven ruins for me... have not tried going deeper yet.
mummy.lua is located in ...\tome4\game\modules\tome\data\general\npcs
I tried that... did not work for me.

yeah, my fix is more for windows machines I think...

No, it should work, but if you've saved a game in there it won't reload the script.

I now join the people who have a good character stuck in there. My fault for going in, but I wasn't looking where I was going and thought it was the old forest. Sigh. Ah well.

This is now a beta 3 problem... Screen goes black. Back out to World map and remains black. Attempting to save causes a hang. I then have to kill the process.

There is no ? character on line 1 of t-engine4-src-1.0.0beta3/game/modules/tome/data/general/npcs/mummy.lua in my copy of the source archive. I dunno what happened to madmonk's.
