b16 pyromancer unlock not progressing in discovery mode

After looking in world.teaw in the save folder it would seem that pyromancer and reaver unlocks doesn't progress when playing in discovery mode. I had played a highly fire focused archmage up to level 15, but the counter was only at ~1500. As my primary attack does more than 120 I highly doubt that it even counted it. Is this intentional?

achievements and unlocks cannot be gained in discovery mode, as of the last time i checked.

Achievements? No...Unlocks? Well, yes, you can unlock things on easy...although Reaver/Cryo/Pyro unlock won't progress...probably because it's achievements...
