Alchemist reward stone alchemy

So, has anyone chosen that reward yet?
Specifically, is the 'create alchemist gems' command gained when extract gems is learned?
If not, the tree might be a bit more useless than it could be

I've always wanted to check this out with a suitable char but haven't gotten around to it yet.
