All my potions and scrolls that are not ided aren't stacking. Bree-man archer in b12b. My inventory screen is quite long :/ I think I noticed it a bit on a previous character, but it's *really* noticeable now because I'm playing the no-shops challenge and so none of my potions and scrolls are ided.
Well, either it's a bug or I've found an insane number of ego consumables ;)
Incidentally, I notice that arrows no longer stack together. Related? I much prefer the separate ammo piles, I must say.

I don't think it's a bug but rather a feature. Once you use one, all the corresponding items will merge together. I like to think it's because you REALLY don't know what they all are, and that in turn makes you keep them separate.

Even though really I do know what all those blue potions are? Normal roguelike behaviour is to group similar unided items so you can at least tell what is common and what is rare (and because visually you can distinguish them somewhat). It also is less messy - my inventory screen is insane right now.

Once/if we get flavor names for all the potions/scrolls the mass separation shouldn't be an issue anymore, but if you really are running around with 30 un'id' scrolls/potions then just try using them/visiting towns to see what they are.

I'm not visiting shops, that's part of the challenge :P And yeah I could use them all, but geeze... at least if they were grouped together I could guess while pile was identify.

Are there dangerous potions/scrolls?
I haven't found anything that would get me killed or at least scared enough to never blindly use a potion/scroll until now.
I can't remember how many times in ToME2 I had to quaff/read unidentified items in a critical situation just to get into an even worse situation. Loved it.
I think the flavor names for potions and scroll are indeed needed. I mean, you can remember what you read/drank if you see it again... unless you are a tasteless dwarf.

It's somewhat ironic that you can tell what a potion is when it's sitting on the ground, but not when you have it in your hand.
