Sense doesn't detect monsters inside vaults

Sorry if this was already reported but - as the title says, 'sense' won't detect monsters that are inside vaults.
Is that intentional? Perhaps they are only generated after the doors are opened, or....?

It is intentional, vault walls block LOS, ESP, sense, magic mapping, ... :)

Might be worth rethinking, though.

I feel a bit cheated out of the 'oh looky, a nice vault, yummy - it's not really on my way, but let's check this out' effect, that you were usually getting in Angband.

on the other hand if you try to magic map it you get a big nice shadow in your vision and think "ohh what the hell is there?!!!"

And the blocking of detection is to keep the surprise as to what will be found inside, increases tension and danger

Maybe the hardwalls should have some sort of particle effect, like a few motes of light. That would reinforce the "something special here" feeling and give people a visual reason there is an LOS blocker.

A particle effect on all hardwalls? most people's computers would probably chuckle to death :)

How about a "Hard" or similar prefix to terrain's tooltip?

Level feelings returning would be a very cool addition actually. I know it wouldn't ever change as the levels are static, but it would still be cool.
