arrows combining

#1 Post by Gwai »

Currently if I make arrows with power range X and arrows with power range X-1, they are sometimes* all combining to become arrows with power range X. Now, while that is rather convenient for me, I doubt it is intended behavior!

*It doesn't happen immediately. I'm not yet sure what causes them to combine. As of yet I have just created arrows with a weaker power, so I will watch and try to note when they are subsumed.

And they just combined. I think it may have been caused by my creating new arrows.

It sounds like it is intentional to allow to to stack arrows of the same type together. See response here.

Fair enough. Missed that.
Have another bug though. It's related to the items disappearing if they're too hard bug, but it's not that either. Tried to wield some yew arrows. They were too hard and disappeared. Alright, so they vanished. Went back to wield my elm arrows. They were gone too! Died.
Also, is it reasonable that a character with a dex of nineteen at least a third of the time seems to make arrows that require a dex of 30 something to use? The character whose yew arrows disappeared had elven arrows in his pack too when he died. He just hadn't made but that one set of elm.

You're a lot luckier than I am in creating arrows if you are getting that many high arrows. I get elm around 90% of the time. Right now I'm running an undead archer that could actually use those arrows and haven't gotten anything other than elm with him yet.

Have you upped the arrow creation? I may be upping mine too early.

Also, are you trying whenever you notice that you can try? Because I try very often. I can't imagine getting all the way through even the first dungeon without getting non-elm arrows, the way I play. I may play slower than you though too.

From stdout.txt it looks like at my current level (not sure how the "level" for object creation is generated...some combination of dungeon level + character level when I first entered the dungeon I believe) I am 7 times more likely to generate elm arrows than any other type of arrow. See my post here for exact details but that puts me some where around an 86% chance of creating elm arrows when I do create them.

I do create them every chance I get and end up throwing a lot of arrows onto the ground so that I'm not encumbered.

When you combine arrows in your quiver it does look as though you have suddenly got a large number of the same type.

The system does keep the arrows separate for combat purposes and knows how much damage and so on each arrow does.

Of course, that means I can't save mediocre arrows for a just in case because if I do, I will use them. I can see why you all would do that, of course. Still with inventory slots not yet at a premium, I think I'd rather they didn't combine, myself.
