Writhing Ring of the Hunter + Through the Crowd / Solipsist

#1 Post by Erenion »

A recent post on the discord about Writhing Ring + Revisionist History got me thinking about what else might be abusable with the ring.

Results of the testing:

If you use the Writhing Ring of the Hunter with Through the Crowd and have a controllable summon, you are able able to permanently grant yourself Through the Crowd.
To do so, simply put the ring on, activate TTC, take the ring off, take control of your summon and deactivate TTC, then reactivate it.
This is possible on any character that has a controllable summon: Alchemist, Annihilator, Necromancer, Solipsist, Summoner, Writhing One, any Yeek character. If Infused Cerebrum had a 1 turn longer duration, it would work on any character.

Solipsist can acquire two Writhing Rings via Projection (use Projection, sell the ring to a shop, then buy it on your character.)
However, if you are wearing two Rings of the Hunter, two The One Who Hunts will be summoned and they will not disappear when combat ends.
The only ways to get rid of them are death, leaving the level (but they will still be there when you reenter the level) or a well-timed corner (although this is hard due to the hunters destroying walls.)

The ring in general also makes some prodigies stackable: wear the ring, select the prodigy (ICCTW, Corrupted Shell mainly), take the ring off, then get the prodigy on the character itself.
However, you are unable to benefit from more than three rings this way (prodigy level 3.)
This leads to an error if a worm that walks pet is wearing four rings that grant Windtouched Speed - when the last ring is taken off, the self.talent_cd_reduction.allpct value that the game is trying to subtract 0.1 from no longer exists.
Breaking Projection since 1.5
