1.6.6 negative energy in fortress

Linux 64bit version 1.6.6

I just got my first skeleton to the fortress.
On my first interaction with the Fortress Shadow, I attuned my transmogrification chest to the fortress.
I saw the new (at least new for me) option to improve my Cloak of Deception.
Fully aware that I have 0.00 energy stored, I used the option to improve the cloak.
It seemed to work anyway, because now the fortress shows -10.00 energy.

The enchantment of the Cloak of Deception does indeed work.

But the negative fortress energy does not go up – I've leveled up 5 or 6 times since and despite many transmogrifications (my chest is attuned to the fortress), the energy level is still at -10.00

That's odd, sending the fortress energy into the negatives is a known bug, but it never prevented adding energy to it.
Are you sure you attuned your transmog chest, using the dialog with the butler?

Yes, I'm sure, because the option is not listed any more.
Currently I have the following options when talking to the butler:

• a) training facilities
• b) alter apprearance of hear
• c) tell about Melinde
• d) leave
