Enemies Attack and Move in the Same Turn

#1 Post by San0ix »

Look at this: https://youtu.be/DhtP7lcM2T4?t=30s
For some reason enemies can attack and move at the same time, similar to Berserker's Fearless Cleave. I always assumed this only happens when they have more than 100% global speed or a specific talent; neither has to be the case. Drake hatchlings, for example, have 100% speed across the board (some goes for the character I was using in the clip) and no talents or items equipped. Yet you can see the Fire drake hatchling attacking me once when I shoot at them, and again when I move away.

This is actually a pretty huge deal, as melee enemies can essentially gain a free attack on you every time you try to move out of their attack range. Especially because this can often result in your death because you'll usually try to disengage when your hp runs low.

Edit: From now on I will post a reply to this every time I die due to this bug, just to show how big a deal it is. I'm actually pretty sure that this is why so many newbie players struggle with melee classes - "oh I'm low hp! Better disengage", as they die because an enemy attack them for no reason.

This seems to not be restriced to attacks as well, as enemies can also use abilities basically immediately after you move away from them, even when you are not taking a turn doing so, as you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ucw0wuCK3g

Yeah I'm fairly sure this is neither related to speed nor enemy type, it just happens, maybe a weird order in which things are resolved?

Pretty much every character death I've had the last couple of days resulted from this bug... Talk about an almost game-breaking issue.

Here's one possibility: say the game time is 31.56 turns. You step away and it takes 1 turn, but it only takes the enemy .8 turns to move by contrast. Hence they get to attack at time 32.36 which is before your turn comes back around at 32.56.

I dont know if this is right because I dont know how the game deals with time, but I think this could be a very plausible scenario. The flip side is enemies could never attack you when youre running away.

Another possibility is that you dont actually move away until the end of the time which is at 32.36 (vs moving away at 31.56 and sitting there for one game tick). In that case an enemy with an attack time of less than one could clearly hit you before you moved away.

Just saying, theres a lot of stuff we dont know about how the turns are calculated.

That only applies when the enemy is faster than you are. This cannot be a matter of timing because the enemy is taking two actions in one turn with exactly the same speeds as the player.

Also, no matter the cause, this needs to be fixed IMO

Aaaaaand another insane run of mine pretty much ended because of this bug. From now on I'll post a reply here every time I die to this bug until it gets fixed or something, just to show how big a deal it is.

RIP lvl 41 Stone Warden that moved while she had 700 movement speed (first move of her turn) and still got attacked.

Edit: Here's the clip of what happened https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ucw0wuCK3g

If this bug is such a big deal why are you literally the only person to notice it?

Check your addons.
<Shibari> You're full of shit
<darkgod #tome> ster is a troll
<Sheila> and ster, i do agree with you on most things game-related, but do try to not be such an ass!
<mex> your posts lead to people like me being abused and murdered

Yeah I'm with ster on this one. I've never had this happen to me, running away works perfectly fine.
A little bit of a starters guide written by yours truly here.

I don't know. After 1 minute of testing: It's still happening, with literally every addon disabled.

Maybe instead of doubting the existence of this issue, you should just load up a character real quick and see for yourself - it really isn't that rare to happen

This definitely happened to me aswell with drakelings. Only pay attention/notice it really early in the game though
I write guides and make addons too now, apparently

You can go here for a compilation of everything I wrote, plus some other important stuff!

Includes general guides (inscriptions, zone, prodigies), and class guides (Demo, Anorithil, Bulwark, Zerker, Sblade)

Just died when a drake decided to attack me while I was using Tumble (which doesn't take a turn). Fun times

If you disable the addon on the configure addons page it only disables it for new characters, not existing ones. Did you try making a character w/o addons to see if it still happens?
