No ambush mobs on world map

So after years of abscence, I picked up this nice game, with expansions, when it was on Steam sale about a week or two ago.
The first few characters I played died quickly, due to me being rusty.
They did have hostile adventuring parties on the worldmap though.

Right now though, I'm playing a halfling oozemancer. I'm level 34 now, and have just arrived at the other side of the sunwall. I haven't seen a single world map ambush party yet on the other side (no adventuring parties, Zigur patrols were there, but ofcourse not hostile since I'm AM).

And now, I've explored the entire world map on the other side of the sunwall, and there's no orc patrols either. At all.

Is this something new and intended for oozemancers / AM / halflings, or is this a bug?

EDIT: Murphy must hate me. I just bumped into an orc patrol. Seems like they're just very rare.
