1.5 Sandworm lair tunnel closes in from both ends

#1 Post by MC Urist »

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but I was in the sandworm lair and got stuck in a tunnel closing from both ends. I was saved by a belt of unlife.

Edit: on second thought I can see how this could happen: if two worms started at opposite ends and dug out the same tunnel it's possible they'd pass each other and not reset the time on the tunnel collapse since it was already dug out, leading to both ends closing in at the same time.

Might it be considered to make it where a worm will reset the collapse timer even if it "digs" through an open space to prevent this?

Pretty sure worms reset the timer on already dug tiles. Maybe what you had was an enemy worm digger that dies in the middle of the tunnel?

I don't recall being in the middle of a fight. I was simply running down a tunnel when it started closing off. I tried to run away and found it closing in on me from behind. It closed in until the tunnel disappeared.

I'm not sure the cause, but it seems like it'd be an unfair way for a player to die.

worms do refresh the duration of the tiles they step on.

except, when they are not the one to make the move.
you sure you didn't swap places with one?

when you say, tune disappeared, you mean whole, or jsut the one tile?

The tunnel was very long and narrow. Each end filled in one tile at a time until there was one tile left, which also filled in. I might of ran through a sandworm at the start of the tunnel, but I'm not sure. I remember running through a sandworm in the middle of the tunnel. I did not run through one at the end of the tunnel (where it started closing off).

Edit: I see, so you're saying, for instance, if I swapped places with a worm at the start of the tunnel it might of prevented the timer from resetting hence closing me in.
