[1.4.9] No shoot talent for Adventurer
Adventurers should start with Shoot Talent, because I set one up as a modified TW, with Bow Threading, only to discover he can't shoot !!

Re: [1.4.9] No shoot talent for Adventurer
pretty sure the "mastery" talents grant that talent.
but yeah, would be nice.
and i am not entirely sure whether it counts as a bug, unless you say "well, it's been bugging me"

Re: [1.4.9] No shoot talent for Adventurer
you can learn shoot talent in last hope, just like Combat Training.
Re: [1.4.9] No shoot talent for Adventurer
Not all of them. IIRC Bow and Sling talents do, but Steamguns don't.Radon26 wrote:pretty sure the "mastery" talents grant that talent.
Not an option when you start an Adventurer in the Infinite Dungeon.St_ranger_er wrote:you can learn shoot talent in last hope, just like Combat Training.
Re: [1.4.9] No shoot talent for Adventurer
learning in last hope is too late for Madness, you need it from the outset.
it should be simple to implement

Re: [1.4.9] No shoot talent for Adventurer
anyway, why does it even require a talent?
i mean, how hard is it to pull the string?

As it is now, Shoot is auto-learned when an actor learns any talent from a category that begins with "Technique/ Archery...". Which covers Archers and any Adventures who use said categories. Psyshots, Gunslingers, Skirmishers and Temporal Wardens all learn it at birth.
As for the need of the Shoot talent... well, why does there need to be an "Attack" talent, when you can just swing a sword, axe, trident, etc? Same reasons. There are a lot of things built into class mechanics that trigger of from the talent being used. Why do you have to learn Shoot? That's a better question.
While it doesn't seem like an unreasonable restriction for most non-ranged classes, considering how easy it is to pick up, it does leave Adventurers high and dry in the ID or Arena. One solution would be to change the categories which cause an actor to auto-learn shoot to include, at the least, any category which has bow, sling or gun mastery (including Strength of Purpose). Another option would be for an actor to learn shoot automatically if they have at least one point in any of those masteries and don't know it already. The last, and simplest, solution would be for Adventurers to start with Shoot. The only way I could see that being a problem is if knowing the Shoot talent would cause Randbosses to spawn with bows when they don't actually have any ranged talents.
