[1.4.6] Choice to betray escort doesn't save after crash.

So the title is pretty much self-explanatory. After my game crashed in the Old Forest second or third level I restarted the zone from the most recent auto save in zone 1. I had an escort quest there that I chose to betray. When I restarted the level i completed the quest again but found out I couldn't betray the escort this time. I used ctrl+alt+del to exit the game then so I think I can try to do it again. Can anyone please tell me If there is a way to fix this?

maybe it would be better if you were able to make the choice at the end, and not beginning.

That's probably a good idea but what I would like to know is if there is anything I could do to fix this for in current game . I was going to use the betrayal reward to put levels into my generic talents without using any generic points which is very useful for my build.
