[1.4.0b6] NPC tooltips and weapon keywords

#1 Post by Stuntofthelitter »

This isn't strictly a bug, but either an intentional or accidental huge step backwards in functionality. The change to show what an NPC has equipped managed to throw away the tooltip listing for what weapon keywords they have. Now you see they have a dwarven steel greatsword, and 'ego'. That's it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this is a problem and needs to be reverted.

While tinkering with it and adding the keywords back in I'm now thinking that since keyword information was previously know, and now gear can be directly seen, that maybe it's best to just have the enemy's gear be identified. As it stands letting players see their gear (but removing keywords) actually results in less information than before.

Having enemy gear be identified sort of seems too far, but at the same time removing previous functionality and info seems problematic. I see that when actually inspecting them some useful middleground info is displayed, which is nice. However the total loss of that from the NPC tooltip might be problematic.

Well, after talking with Hachem Muche this seems very much a deliberate change and not accidental. If anyone has ideas or opinions on the way it now works in 1.4 then I suppose we can consider what might be done a bit differently. I'll keep my hands off changing it.
