[1.3.1] Rain of Fire got misleading description

#1 Post by Kror »

The talent (Corruption / Spellblaze:) Rain of Fire indicates that "at most 2 metores will rain down every turn doing x fire damage and y physical damage." They instead do x/2 and y/2 damage, only totaling in x and y with both meteors (x y damage are not possible if there is only one enemy).
I realise that it doesn't state "x y damage each" but it doesn't state "x y damage total" either, which is somewhat misleading.

Additionally it got the "Drain vim: " line under "Sustain vim cost: 8" with no number for the drain. The same is true for (Corruption / Doom shield : ) Osmosis Shield.

Addtionally, both of them take a turn to disable but disable automatically when running/resting. This can be abused when just hiting "rest" in combat. Character won't rest because enemies are visible, but the sustains will be disabled without taking a turn to do so. This can also lead to unwanted behaviour if there is still an enemy offscreen.

I started up a demonologist and noticed the same thing with Rain of Fire. Seems pretty weak if both meteors have to hit to get decent damage out of it, especially since, at times, there'll be zero overlap between the two radii, or worse, only 1 meteor falls.

It's actually not that weak since its a sustain and a demonologist can be pretty tanky, but the tooltip is still missleading.

I think I agree with you. My demonologist just hit lv 19 after beating (and dying once to) cultist-inhabited Daikara, and I realized how much I missed Rain of Fire's rather respectable damage for eroding large groups.

I wouldn't describe my char as squishy, but he's definitely not tanky either. Does this get better later on or something?

Well Osmosis Shield helps a lot and a good shield makes a big differnce there. Hardened core too.

A shield clas with mag as stat is also kinda predestined to get Spectral Shield. Also a lot of demons help with tankyness.

Rain of fire + ashes to ashes do a great job, even when you are not doing much besides blocking and healing (on nightmare at least).
