Sometimes there are delays when accessing the vault servers (both for retrieval and deposit). A few days ago it would take like 1-2 minutes and then give up. Somehow one of the items I tried to put in (but couldn't, still had it in my inventory) made it to the other side successfully, it had a 'newly acquired' blue text on the top of the tooltip, and I still had my original copy.
I haven't tried to reproduce it, nor would I plan on it. I've no idea if this is a known bug or not but my 5 minute google search didn't yield any recent results. Hope it gets fixed before it gets abused. Thanks..

I've had this happen once before too. My guess is it's not really abusable because you'd have to know when the server registered the item in the vault and terminate the client or connection before you get the message to remove the item client-side.

I say, better to have items ending up on both sides than items ending up on neither. What you gonna do anyway, equip TWO staves on the same slot?
Vaulted items are a renewable resource.

More info on the abuse, then?
Also, who cares, item vault is cheating anyway.

Crash the game between the time it saves on the server and it saves on the character. I was saying in chat that it can't be exploited and someone (I'm not naming) convinced me that I was wrong.
I agree with your assessment though, it's better to be safe that it won't be lost than worry that someone will cheat.
