(1.2.3) Mindlash range lies

My mindslayer has 5 points in mindlash, and according to the tooltip, my range with that is 7. But when I right-click on an an enemy 7 spaces away and mindlash it, nothing happens. When I click the mindlash button on my toolbar, things that are 7 spaces away are in the red zone. It only lets me target things up to 6 spaces away.
