This is pretty hard not to see coming by the end of it when you do it this way, but there's a bit of an issue with that quest where if you go into High Peak and clear the dungeon and take the east exit portal, but don't complete it in time to save the gate, but you do all of this before bringing the athame/diamond to Zemekkys, you can't complete the quest and there doesn't appear to be a way to get back west as a result. This leaves you in kind of an awkward position after the end of the game.
