Lost wife bug

#1 Post by sephirjon »

In the wife dream, I kill the yeek that is the lost wife, but nothing appears. Instead, I am repeatedly attacked by an invisible, intangible lost wife. It cannot be found, it just keeps attacking me from nowhere. What can i do?

EDIT: okay, I beat the mouse dream, and would really like to unlock solipsist. It's the only class I have left to unlock.

I suppose I should actually include some character info. Sorry.

There's a known bug where certain enemies can die and leave behind a perpetual AoE damage near where they die. It's fairly rare though. Is this repeatable each time you try the dream? If not, you only have to do the dream again after the first time. If this happens every time, then I'm not sure what can be done.

Yes, every time. I kill the lost wife yeek, but instead of a new enemy appearing, I start taking periodic damage, sometimes physical, sometimes acid, and it'll say 'lost wife used spit.' I've tried using the debugger to give myself massive see invisible and see stealth, but that didn't let me see anything. I tried giving myself an AoE talent to nuke the room, but it didn't hit anything. It's just really weird, like I'm being haunted or something.

Okay, started a shaloren archmage, got to lvl 20, went to caldera, did the wife dream, same exact thing happened. Annoying.

Hmmm... I'm not familiar with all the addon's you were using (at least with your first character. I thought Draconian/arcanum had a conflict, but that might've been fixed and I missed the update), have you tried a run without any active? Someone just did that set of dreams today for the achievement, so it's unlikely an issue with the game itself. But I don't know exactly which of your addons could cause the issue.

If I had to guess, I'd guess at extra dungeons, but I have no clue to be honest. Safer to turn them all off.

I'm having this EXACT same problem, and I'm not using that Extra Dungeons addon (although I do have the draconian one installed). Simply turning off all my addons didn't help, and every "Lost Man" dream plays out the same way.

As a note, even the ghouls exhibit similar behavior... they are completely unattackable/invisible for a few rounds as I move about (being able to attack me, but I can walk through/can't attack). The only difference is the "Lost Wife" never appears. She stays invisible/can't be attacked. I know its "can't be attacked' because I had her (and some ghouls) spawn in 1 tile wide corridors. After attacking the Yeek, I walked right onto the tile they were supposed to be on. The spit's are slowish projectiles, and I'd try to use those to find the tile the Lost Wife is on... but nothing.

Again, I kept entering the dream, reloading, tried a different character... nothing.

Nothing changes.

I might try an uninstall/reinstall later.

I got it! I turned off every add-on except for Stone Warden and Item Vault, made a new character (Yeek Doomed), got to lv 20, went to the Caldera, got into the wife dream, and it was working! The ghouls appeared instantly instead of a few turns later, and the lost wife finally appeared! Interestingly enough, I got Solipsism immediately after finishing the dream, so I guess it counted my beating the mouse dream in the previous game.

So, yay! I've unlocked everything! Except for Insane difficulty. Not sure how to do that, but whatever!

The only mod we had in common was "Draconian," so I'm assuming that's the culprit. I'm going to post a game log to the draconian forums.
