[1.0.4] Game briefly freezes during certain occurances

When I pick up a piece of lore, kill a boss, escort someone to the portal, or sometimes even start to auto-explore, the game will sometimes (or often) hang for a few seconds as if it's thinking really hard about what it's trying to do.
