I am not sure if this is a bug or a feature...
I have seen it many times that detrimental effects were applied to my characters even when no actual damage was afflicted, generally when the character was protected by some kind of shielding, such as mindslayer's shields.
For example, a character could be poisoned when he suffers no physical damage whatsoever. This does not make sense. It seems only logical that detrimental effects can only be a result of actual damages. So any character that doesn't take any physical damage during a turn cannot be affected by physical detrimental effects (exception: blinding by bright light and knockback). Same goes with magical and mental detrimental effects.
I reckon there are some thorny issues. For example, would warshout still work? Theoretically, there can be a talent that causes damage by really loud sounds. If a character is protected from that, why would he still get confused?
