[1.0][spoiler maybe]struck at the portal

Hi, as seen from the title, i'm struck near the portal wich leads to the far east. I've defeated all the orcs, found the secret room with gold, and tried everything around the portal but it does nothing, the quest just say "go to the east". Am i missing something? i lost the staff in the ambush i don't know what to do now, pls help!
