Died twice to one attack.

#1 Post by Crim, The Red Thunder »

While doing unknown tunnels quest, I cast flame at a bandit, bandit hits me, kills me, and then after the death loading screen, it loads AGAIN, and tells me I've lost another life, this time by burning myself to death. Now, I know I didn't cast it on myself, and the bandit's attack did not have a fire element attached to it. In the event it matters, my character was a cornac archmage, at level 9. Bandit's attack that killed me 'shattered me to death', dealing 19 physical, 6 blight, 12 physical damage (total 36.70) Additionally, I don't belive that the bandit was hit by my flame attac before acting, and my understanding was that the spell travels fast enough that it should hit instantly at point blank range. This is presumably a second issue, but the important aspect is losing two lives at once. This is a huge impediment.

Edit: Beta 42, since I didn't remember to say it earlier.

Edit: If any other information is needed, I can try and offer it up too. Anything to get this fixed.

Can bandits switch place with the character? If yes, this is the same issue as archers killing themselves twice with their missiles.
- @ casts a spell
- X switches place with @
- X kills @
- @ resurrects and is placed on the same spot
- the spell hits @ and kills @

Alternatively, it may be that when you get resurrected the game goes "in same square as a projectile, didn't just fire the projectile (because the resurrection clears that info), gets hit by projectile".

The bit where the bandit gets to act before the Flame spell hits him is not a bug, it's just the bandit's turn being timed unfortunately close to yours.
<Ferret> The Spellblaze was like a nuclear disaster apparently: ammo became the "real" currency.

Bandit didn't graphically switch with me after respawn. Further, both deaths occured simultaneously before reaching the eidolon plane, I was not respawned into an attack first... When I left the eidolon plane, the first time, it only offered me 'respawn' choice, I coudn't choose elsewhere, and it 'respawned me' into the eidolon plane, where I had both respawn and respawn elsewhere choices... Respawning from THAT eidolon plane, dropped meback to the bandit. How exactly would that count as respawning onto a projectile?

Not sure it's related: I wield a weapon of erosion. I kill the slinger in the arena on the spawn spot (40 physical, 6 nature). The gladiator appears on the same square & cops 6 points of temporal damage.
